Overview (resum en anglès): | |
This project has been developed in an industrial environment, under an Internship Agreement with the company DAMM. The site is the company¿s factory in Prat de Llobregat which has several buildings with over five production lines working overnight. These lines have a number of (automated) continuining quality controls checking items such as integrity, cleaning or foreign bodies and liquid residues inside the package. Each and every one of these checks is paramount to the final quality of the product. There are also selfcontrols, operated manually by an employee through a control or push-button which also challenges the final product quality. And finally there are the visual checks, made over a package which do not challenge the final product quality. The aim of our project is to reduce the human presence in such a control typpology.
Currently in all packaging lines, regardless of the kind of packaging, a final quality inspection on the finished product must be carried out by an employee. During this inspection the employee picks up a package from the line and in an external control deck checks that it is optimum. This control implies only physical parameters, i.e, that the labels are correct, are correctly placed and oriented, that the colour is the expected, that the batch number is correct, etc. This operation takes place at 20 min intervals and poses two great issues: the lack of record on the checks made and the subjectivity of the employee. This causes mistakes that could be avoided. If the packaging shows an irregularity such as wrong, incorrect or damaged labels, the lack thereof or wrong batch number the line must be stopped. The employee must then identify where and when the problem started. This has an impact in the OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), i.e. in the production performance. As soon as the problem is detected and solved, the line is started again. As there is no reprocessing, all these containers are discarded and are not reused. This project provides the start of a solution to these problems because adaptations and improvements are currently being carried out for its implementation in the industrial environment. A proof of concept focused on a current and future solution is presented, stating the current status of the project and future lines of work. The project meets the initial specifications and limitations and deals with the issues arisen as the project progressed. The current solution is an application developed in java, an executable in .exe format. Its correct perfomance is based on how through two images taken during the analysis and the product evaluation it asseses the package. This is carried out through patterns. Each analysis has a model pattern created from a package with all the correct characteristics |
