Currently in the world the use of refrigerant fluids is increasing as it is used in various fields, whether in industrial refrigeration, commercial refrigeration or food distribution and air conditioning. In each of these applications the most important component is the refrigerant fluid, so if a leak occurs the system will not work.

It should be noted that a refrigerant fluid is not just any substance that can be wasted and is not easy to handle. Every year certain refrigerant fluids are being banned because they affect the environment and global warming.

The aim of this research work is to develop a device that can reduce and even eradicate refrigerant leaks in pipes of refrigeration installations, as they are a major economic and environmental problem.

The main idea is to design a device that detects changes of states.

In a refrigerant installation the refrigerant fluid will only be found in liquid, gas or mixture of these two, so the device will have to detect between these two states.

The work is mainly divided into two parts, theoretical and experimental.

The first part contains all the information necessary to understand the world of refrigeration installations and refrigerant fluids. It also analyses the types of sensors that exist in order to develop the device.

The experimental part explains the development of the detector device, measurements and results.

Finally we have managed to make a measuring device, consisting of an NTC thermistor.
