Smart devices are on the rise, becoming more common in society and taking on more important tasks. Smart sensors are a crucial element in smart devices, as they inform about the environment that sorrounds them. These sensors are made up of electronic circuits that must be tested, the traditional method is used to perform voltage and/or current testing measurements. By following the traditional method in some cases we can obtain a large relative error in the measurement, due to the load effect.

The aim of this work is to reduce the error due to the load effect in the current/voltage measurement by applying a new measurement method. This new method is based on a new theorem that shows that we can determine any current/voltage from an equivalent voltage/current and an equivalent resistance.

We will compare theoretically and experimentally the results obtained following both the new method and the traditional method for different electronic circuits. We will see that the traditional method has a large relative error in the voltage/current measurement when the resistance on which we measure has the same order of magnitude as the internal resistance of the voltmeter/ammeter. In contrast, the new method in these cases provides us with a much smaller relative error, thus reducing the error due to the loading effect. In all the cases that we will study experimentally, we will obtain better results with the new method, in fact the relative error obtained with this new method will be between 6 and 4,600 times smaller than with the traditional method.

Therefore, it will be very convenient to use the new method, as it is easy to implement and it provides a very considerable improvement in the accuracy of the measurement, especially in cases where the traditional method is less efficient.
