    In the design and analysis of gas turbines, these are modeled from individual components that are pieced together. The objective of the project is to define types of modules through the input and output parameters that govern interaction with other types of modules. The different modules should contemplate all possibilities in terms of interrelation with other modules, so that their internal operation can be seen as a black box and, therefore, independently improved as finer modeling becomes possible. Each type of module will initially be implemented in its simpler form so that engine operation can be tested from early on in the project. Finer modeling will then be incorporated to modules in an orderly way.

    This project will concentrate on identifying the input/output parameters needed to model heat transfer components (combustion chamber, heat exchanger, afterburner...) as well as defining a number of other secondary modules to represent additional components. A simple computational model of each of the aforementioned parts will be produced at the final stage.

    Coordination with at least two other projects focusing on other components is essential, as the various modules will have to be assembled into common applications for simulation. Compatibility among is therefore mandatory.

     
    Overview (resum en anglès):
    This work aims the modeling of different components that are part of or related to the transfer of heat (contribution, exchange or removal) from a gas turbine. All these modules have been developed in steps from the most ideal case to a certain degree of complexity for subsequent planning and implementation.
    The final result is a series of modules programmed and tested in C + + so that they can adequately simulate their respective components. Specifically, we find the modules of a combustion chamber, an afterburner and a heat exchanger.
    Moreover, we have designed a series of other components not related to heat transfer, but with those of a gas turbine. These are a standard atmosphere, the variation of the characteristics of the fluid along its passage through the engine and the final calculating of the parameters of the engine.
    Moreover, all this work is part of a larger project which has sought to create a program capable of assembling any type of propulsion system and so the user can design their own engine by choosing the components that it considers appropriate.
    It is hoped that this work becomes the first step towards the creation of a mature software for the calculation of various parameters on any type of application of a gas turbine. Still, many obstacles need to be overcome before this arduous, but rewarding, task is completed.
