Mobile phone development has made Smartphones possible. These
terminals are a clear example of how technology develops, allowing the user to enjoy of great storage capacity, camera, Internet connection or GPS signal, amongst other features. Having all these new features at hand, new creation possibilities become available and this is why most of current platforms support application downloading. This Project will deal with one of these available applications: Layar. We will create a server that will allow us to add geolocalized places with additional information provided by the user. Following Layar concept, we will link these user added places in a layer that can be viewed by different means, such as a list with all information points, spread points in a map or an overlap of digital information on an actual, real image taken by the camera viewer. This last concept is known as Augmented Reality and it is a quite recent technology that allows to develop multiple applications to be offered on virtual stores, which actually is their main market, in an easy way. This Project joins both existing resources and my own developments in order to allow users to create and group their own Points of Interest in a totally independent manner and, of course, carry them in their pocket. |
