Overview (resum en anglès):
This project presents the adaptation of a commercial telescope for users with disabilities. The designed system enables access to this field of science by persons with difficulties to operate this type of technology independently. With this work we have intended to contribute to equality of opportunities between people with and without disabilities and expand the leisure and experimental/practical learning available.

Handle the mount of the device or look through the eyepiece are some of the main obstacles found. To solve them we have used a motorized remote controlled telescope and a CCD.

In the hardware section we designed a circuit to simulate the use of the buttons through a relay system. These relays are controlled by a programmed microcontroller replacing mechanical pressure by electrical pulses.

Nowadays has improved a lot the adaptability of computers towards people with difficulties to handle a mouse or press keys. In the market there are many peripherals designed according to the type and degree of disability. That is why in parallel we have designed a software with that a user with limited mobility is capable of performing the main and most important activities that proposes a commercial telescope. We have simulated the command in a Windows operating system. The aim was to handle the most options through a PC.

The incorporation of the CCD to the system allows us to monitor the captured images. With the personal mouse of each user and the help of the CCD can perform all the activities proposed by the telescope without moving more than a finger and without bring close the eye to the eyepiece.
