Overview (resum en anglès):
This project focuses on the study, design and measurement of three printed antennas on a dielectric substrate, designed to extract signals from the processor of a conventional computer. The processor operates at 1 GHz, and can operate at slightly lower or higher frequencies.

The first step is to do a preliminary study of all antennas based on printed technology that can be adjusted to this framework. The antennas selected to perform this work are a patch antenna type, a folded dipole and a meander line antenna.

Each prototype is responsible for covering a part of the previously specified frequency range, the patch antenna covers the central part of the range (1 GHz), the folded dipole resonates at the higher frequencies (1,2 GHz) and the meander line antenna was designed with the aim of covering the lower frequencies (900 MHz).

The prototypes are adjusted with the aim of providing the best compromise between size, return losses and bandwidth.

The design of the different microstrip antenna configurations has been made with the ADS (Advanced Design System) software from Agilent technologies. This software includes Momentum, an electromagnetic simulator with which Layout design and electromagnetic simulations have been done.

The next step is to make the antennas and perform the measurements of the return losses and bandwidth in a vector network analyser (VNA). The results obtained in measurements are compared with those obtained in the simulations and the possible differences are justified.

Finally, we test if it is possible to extract the signals from the PC processor in an anechoic chamber.
