Overview (resum en anglès): | |
This project is about the design of a circular polarized microstrip antenna with metamaterial supersubstrate working in the recently European Union Navigation band, Galileo. The metamaterial structure design, which is made up of SRRs (Split Ring Resonator), has been added to the antenna like a supersubstrate to get a gain improvement.
To observe the behavior of the elements and their properties we use HFSS (High Frequency Structural Simulator) program, which consists in FEM method. On the other hand, to get permeability, permittivity and the size of the antenna we use Matlab. During the project, we stablished different phases concurring with each chapter but without losing sight of principal project goal, the antenna improvement adding a negative refraction index structure. First of all, we design a circular polarization patch antenna excited by a microstrip line, which operates at 1.5754GHz (E1 Galileo). We explain the procedure to get all the parameters design. Secondly, we create a negative refraction index structure design in order to study the behavior off satellite navigation antenna with supersubstrate. In this project we adapt the SRR structure proposed by Pendry and we create a structure with a specific number of SRR. To sum up, through adding the supersubstrate to the antenna, we pretend to achieve an improvement in the antenna gain without losing matching characteristics. This improvement could be done thank to the metamaterial properties. |
