Descripció del contingut i pla d'activitats:

At the end of 1950, world commercial aviation was suffering more than 60 accidents per million takeoffs. If you were experiencing the same accident rate today, you would be hearing about two plane crashes a day somewhere in the world (involving planes of 100 passengers or more). Two-thirds of the accidents that occurred in the late 1950s were caused by equipment failure.
The fact that such a high accident rate was caused by equipment failure meant that the main focus had to be on equipment safety. It is now widely accepted that commercial aviation is the safest way to travel: commercial airlines suffer fewer than two accidents per million takeoffs. This corresponds to an accident every 3 or 4 weeks in the world. Of these, about 1/6 are caused by equipment failure. [13,14] This fact is due to the focus of the commercial aviation industry on basing its maintenance strategies on reliability, it is a methodology that allows identifying potential failures of the components and their possible causes, classifying the criticality of the failures and proposing measures to avoid them. The objective of this TFG is to understand how aircraft maintenance is currently evaluated from the point of view of the Reliability Department of an airline. With this purpose, a study of the structure, evaluation tools and information flow in the Reliability Department has been carried out, accompanied by the evaluation of a reliability case of a problematic component from a theoretical and qualitative point of view to understand what are the procedures and challenges faced by the Reliability Department of an airline. |
