Descripció del contingut i pla d'activitats:

This Bachelor's Final Project aims to apply the planning, continuous improvement, and traceability methodologies used in the aerospace sector to the railway sector, specifically to the Barcelona Metro. The initial hypothesis establishes that a structured management approach based on action plans, incident prioritization, and monitoring through key performance indicators (KPI) can significantly improve the operational efficiency, user safety and service perception.
To achieve this, a review of relevant methodology from both sectors has been carried out, including tools such as root cause analysis, PDCA cycle, Lean and Six Sigma techniques, and quality standards. The current situation of the Barcelona Metro was analyzed, and using multi-criteria prioritization techniques, the critical areas were identified. The two high-impact issues were selected: damages caused by the use of escalators and elevators and the overcrowding on platforms and inside the trains.
For these two issues, a detailed and structured action plan was designed, divided in phases, including the causal analysis definition of corrective actions, and designs of specific monitoring indicators. Also, traceability and implementation templates were developed for both action plans and KPIs. Since implementation is not feasible within the scope of this Project, a forecast of expected results was developed, including target values, success thresholds, evaluation criteria, and timelines for analysis.
The project concludes that the adaptation of methodologies from the aeronautical sector to the railway sector is feasible, provides quantifiable value, and can be implemented in a sustainable manner. The sustainability analysis confirms the scalability of the proposed plan and its low impact in both the development and the implementation phases.
