| The UPC is one of the nine universities that make up Unite!. This is an alliance of European universities with the aim of boosting innovation, sustainability, and cross-border collaboration in research, technology, and education. Unite! focuses on several key areas that drive its mission to promote innovation and collaboration across Europe. These focus areas include sustainable development, digital transformation, health and well-being, energy transition, and advanced materials. Within the health and well-being area, courses and activities are organized to help students, but no attention has been paid to sports as a key activity.
This Final Degree Project presents Olympia, a European platform designed to centralize and optimize the management of sports competitions in the European university sphere, both within the Unite! alliance and outside it in other alliances. The proposal stems from the need to encourage collaboration between international universities beyond the field of research or education, fostering sports activity and teamwork, while increasing the networking of students from different countries. The technical development of this project is based on a software architecture divided into two fundamental layers that guarantee a functional, robust, scalable, and efficient system: the server and the final application that the user will use. Olympia stands out for its versatility as it does not focus solely on a specific sport such as football, but also includes other sports such as Padel, Basketball, and Handball, in addition to having the possibility of extending it to more areas in the future. Although its main function is to consult the different competitions that are organized, it also allows for the management of these, their users, and teams by users with the administrator role. This work details how the technical development has been carried out, from data modeling to the screen that the final user sees when using the application. Finally, the final result is presented and an analysis is made of which improvements and updates can be implemented to enhance the application. |
