| During the last decades, global aviation traffic has increased considerably, contributing to climate change. Although aircraft have become more fuel-efficient, CO2 emissions are not aviation's only climate impact. Non-CO2 emissions, particularly persistent contrails, ice clouds formed by water vapor from aircraft engines at high altitudes, also play a key role. Rerouting flights to avoid contrail-forming regions offers a key mitigation strategy but requires good coordination with the entire aviation network. To address this challenge, this thesis develops the Airport Agent within a Python-based Multi-Agent System (MAS) for sustainable slot allocation. The Airport Agent minimizes overall delay and holding delays, benefiting both airlines and airport operations. Following the 80/20 rule for slot allocation, the Agent gives priority to airlines with original slot rights while optimizing overall capacity usage. Results show the validation process and the comparison with realistic data from Frankfurt Airport in 2025. The study confirms the Airport's Agent, and overall MAS system in real-world, supporting contrail-avoidance while maintaining operational efficiency. | |
