| This Final Degree Project analyzes the current imbalance of the Catalan airport system, where the Barcelona-El Prat Airport faces a critical limit of operations during peak hours, while secondary infrastructures, such as the Reus and Girona airports, remain highly underutilized. The study proposes practical solutions to transform these regional airports into genuinely attractive options for passengers. Through a survey of habits and preferences and a detailed technical diagnosis, the project concludes that the main obstacle is not a lack of space in the terminals, but rather deficient terrestrial connectivity. To reverse this situation, key strategies are proposed, such as the improvement of the railway network (with the TramCamp or the High-Speed connection) and a prominent logistical innovation: remote baggage drop-off from urban train stations, like Barcelona-Sants. This model seeks to simplify the journey as much as possible, saving the stress of transfers and turning Reus and Girona into competitive, comfortable, and efficient alternatives to decongest El Prat. | |
