| Este Trabajo de Fin de Grado tiene como objetivo analizar el impacto de la Eurocopa 2024 en el tráfico aéreo con origen y destino en Alemania, así como en las emisiones asociadas a dicho incremento de actividad. Para ello, se emplearán datos oficiales abiertos de la oficina estadística alemana, que incluyen información detallada sobre vuelos comerciales, número de pasajeros, distancias recorridas, tipología de vuelo y niveles de ocupación.
El análisis se centrará en comparar el volumen y la distribución del tráfico aéreo antes, durante y después del torneo, identificando variaciones asociadas a las distintas fases de la competición. Asimismo, se estudiarán flujos específicos entre Alemania y determinados países participantes, como España, con el objetivo de evaluar posibles incrementos coincidentes con el avance deportivo de sus selecciones. A partir de las distancias recorridas y el número de vuelos, se realizará una estimación de las emisiones de CO' asociadas al tráfico aéreo durante el evento, utilizando factores de emisión estándar ampliamente empleados en estudios de aviación. De forma complementaria, se emplearán datos de vigilancia ADS-B procedentes de OpenSky Network para analizar la congestión del espacio aéreo y la densidad de trayectorias en días clave del torneo, combinando así un enfoque macro y micro del tráfico aéreo. |

| The organization of major international sporting events generates significant mobility flows and a substantial increase in air transport activity. In this context, this study analyses the impact of UEFA Euro 2024 on air traffic associated with Germany, with particular attention to charter traffic and the resulting CO2 emissions.
To achieve this, official open-access air traffic data covering the 2011-2025 period, published by the German statistical portal Statistikportal, are used. Based on these data, a temporal, geographical, and operational analysis of air traffic is conducted, differentiating between regular commercial flights and charter flights during the tournament months and the rest of the year. The results show that regular commercial air traffic does not present significant increases associated with the tournament. In contrast, charter traffic experiences a notable rise during June and July 2024, mainly concentrated on routes connecting Germany with participating countries. Furthermore, the analysis reveals a high variability in CO2 emissions, influenced by factors such as flight distance, aircraft type, and passenger occupancy. Using a reference scenario based on the average values of 2023 and 2025, the study estimates an additional 25,100 tonnes of CO2 linked to the increase in charter operations during the tournament. Overall, the findings highlight the specific role of charter transport in air mobility associated with major sporting events and its contribution to the environmental impact of air transportation. |
