Overview (resum en anglès):
This project is framed within the Drone Engineering Ecosystem (DEE) and aims to desing and develop an augmented reality solution thar overlays virtual elements onto the first person view (FPV) video obtained from a drone's camera in real time. The goal is for these virtual elements to be coherent with what the drone actually sees, so that their position and orientation match the drone's movement during its flight. In addition, the fisheye distortion introduced by the drone's camera has been corrected so the virtual world matches better the real world.
Once all of the above was resolved, on this basis several interactive escenarios were developed with their own game mechanics (such as fly through rings, collect gems or navigate mazes), as well as the posibility for the users of the final application to create and configure their own custom escenarios.
Furthermore, two WebApps were developed that allow to view the drone's video with the virtual elements superimposed and also allow to control the drone remotely.
For the development of the project, Unity was the main tool used. The final obtained solution was validated both in a simulation environment with a SITL (Mission Planner) and with a real drone, proving its correct operation and establishing a scalable foundation on which future projects could be built.
