| This Bachelor's thesis presents a comprehensive analysis of the orbital
dynamics, stability, and long-term behavior of Jupiter's Trojan asteroid population, which exhibits a continuous and paradigmatic case of 1:1 mean-motion resonance with the planet. Utilizing the theoretical framework of the Circular Restricted Three-Body Problem (CRTBP), the motion of these negligible-mass objects subjected to the combined gravitational field of the Sun and Jupiter is modeled within a synodic (rotating) reference frame. The primary objective is to characterize, from both a mechanical and energetic perspective, the dynamic confinement of these bodies around the triangular Lagrangian equilibrium points L4 and L5. The study combines the mathematical rigor of classical celestial mechanics with modern computational and data processing techniques. The implemented methodology relies on the acquisition of real state vectors andctors andctors andctors andctors andctors andctors ans and Small-Body Database systems. Based on these ephemerides, a numerical algorithm is developed within the MATLAB environment for the temporal propagation of the orbits using a variable-step Runge-Kutta integrator, which is further complemented by a frequency analysis of the libration motion. The simulation results reveal the global architecture of the population, demonstrating a strong statistical concentration of the Jacobi constant (CJ) around a precise theoretical value. Through the juxtaposition of extreme case studies, highly stable periodic libration orbits are characterized against phenomena of chaotic diffusion. Finally, the study evaluates the physical mechanisms of orbital escape, demonstrating how a gradual increase in the oscillation amplitude allows unstable bodies to overcome the critical thresholds of the zero-velocity curves, open the energetic bottlenecks of the Hill regions, and ultimately be ejected from the system following close approaches. |
