Due to the current need, both to automate processes and to collect data in real time and the limitations that this entails, new fields of study appear, such as the energy harvesting, which are undergoing a great evolution in recent years.
It is for this reason that this final degree project focuses on the study of piezoelectric devices and their application in the field of energy harvesting. The main objective is, through the development and adaptation of a test platform, to investigate the characteristics and both the electrical and mechanical model of piezoelectric transducers, as well as supplying a load, through an integrated conditioning circuit, with much higher power than that generated by the piezoelectric transducer. The methodology used in this work combines an exhaustive literature review and experimental tests. The existing literature on piezoelectric devices has been reviewed and relevant data on their electromechanical behavior have been collected. In addition, experimental tests have been carried out using a test bench to obtain the necessary values of the electromechanical model and validate its precision. The results obtained show that the electromechanical model used is adequate to describe the behavior of piezoelectric transducers in the context of energy harvesting devices. The experimental values of the proposed model have been obtained, as well as a precise relationship between the voltage produced by the piezoelectric as a function of different parameters such as the applied acceleration, the working frequency or the implemented load resistance. Therefore, it has been understood that the energy capture system presented in this work offers a sustainable and efficient solution in terms of energy consumption by being able to power a low consumption device without the need to use batteries or rechargeable batteries. |
