Overview (resum en anglès):
RITE (Reglamento de Instalaciones Térmicas en los Edificios) is a Spanish technical regulation that establishes the standards and requirements for the installation of air conditioning, heating, ventilation and domestic hot water production systems in buildings. In order not to create bottlenecks for new, more efficient technologies and installers, its regulations can be flexible in certain activities, leaving the comfort conditions to the designers.

Health and well-being conditions in buildings are important as most of human life is spent indoors. In the Baix Llobregat, most industrial buildings intended to be indoor padel centers have a natural ventilation system. However, these ventilation systems can affect the comfort of occupants and cause Sick Building Syndrome due to poor indoor climate control. A poor design of the ventilation system, such as the incorrect use of ventilation grilles, can affect the temperature, airflows and air quality inside the building.

This work studies the distribution of air currents and thermal comfort in a sports center through CFD simulation. The first part of the work presents the state of the art of numerical methods and thermal comfort visualization in buildings. Additionally, research is also conducted on active and passive systems in climate control. Then, in the second part, by choosing the ventilation and climate control systems for this work, the volume of the sports center is modeled with air injection and extraction systems. The simulation is carried out with the help of specialized software, the HVAC module of SOLIDWORKS Flow Simulation. Physical properties of the model and components are assigned using this software. In this work, two studies are carried out, the analysis of air currents and comfort, each with a series of associated cases. The results obtained from each case study are compared with the rest to finally choose the best configuration. In the last part of the work, the conclusions of this work are presented and lines of action for future work are given.
