Descripció del contingut i pla d'activitats:
This project aims to work on the analysis of Tranport
protocols performance over Visible Light Communication indoor
Networks. The first part consists of studying the optimal
location of the receiver to obtain the maximum throughput
inside an area illuminated by LEDs. The second part will
include mobile terminals, analysing the influence of handovers
on Tranport protocols throughput.

Phases of the project:

1. Study of the state of the art of VLC
2. Review some literature proposals related to the influence
of Visible Light Communication technology at transport
protocols
3. Define the characteristics of the system elements, modeling
uplinks and downlinks channels
4. Develop a simulation/emulation and/or platform deployment
of the system
a. Without considering mobility, i.e., locating the
optimal position of the receiver inside the area to maximize
the throughput
b. Extend the system including mobile terminals receiving
the information, analyzing the influence of handovers over
Tranport protocols
5. Analyze the results of the systems
6. Write a research paper
7. Write the final report of the project
 
Overview (resum en anglès):
Development of a module for the NS3 simulator to model a Visible Light Communication network, and performance analysis of TCP protocol over it.
