Descripció del contingut i pla d'activitats:
This project will analyse a data set of a whole day of aircraft operations
in the European airspace (ECAC area). Novel performance metrics,
proposed in a SESAR Exploratory Research project called APACHE will
be used, in particular in the key performance areas (KPA) of
environmental impact, airspace user cost-efficiency and equity. The
project will characterise this data set and will try to find causality and
correlations between KPAs.

Overview (resum en anglès):
Is a reality the fact that the European airspace is one of the most inefficient in the whole world. From the last years to now the program SESAR (Single European Sky ATM Research) 2020 is working in some solutions to increase the quality and efficiency of the European airspace. Within this context the APACHE project proposes some objectives, create new performance indicators to show accurately the reality of the inefficiencies in the European airspace by simulating real or future traffic and creating a new simulator in three dimensions to capture the vertical inefficiencies.
In this project it’s pretends to use the data generated in the APACHE project in the environment key performance area in FABEC airspace, the most congested airspace in Europe, to determine the origin of the different efficiencies of the sector.
Using the simulation tool also created in the APACHE project the simulation will be extended to the whole Europe airspace, ECAC, to analyse the same inefficiencies and its origin as in the previous case.
Once analysed the inefficiencies based in distance and based in fuel consumption for both airspaces, and taking into account that on airspace FABEC is inside the other, ECAC. It would be interesting to know if the inefficiencies pattern is the same for FABEC and ECAC, and then the inefficiency has always the same origin or if the inefficiencies have different origin depending on the airspace.
After analysing the results, the most relevant conclusion is that the inefficiency origin depends on the Flight level and route length and then, the inefficiencies of FABEC and ECAC doesn’t have the same origin.
