| Si se tiene en cuenta que el 90% del total de datos mundiales se han generado
en los ultimos 2 años y que todo aquello que se puede medir se puede mejorar, actualmente existen infinidad de posibilidades de utilizar estos datos para mejorar la eficiencia de cualquier tipo de empresa, y es un hecho que grandes empresas utilizan esta ingente cantidad de datos (big data) para realizar estudios, elaborar nuevos productos o mejorar los ya existentes. Las aerolineas no podian ser una excepcion, sobretodo debido a la ferrea competencia y el bajo margen de beneficio que ofrece el sector, por lo que el control de costes se ha convertido en una prioridad ya que permite, por un lado, mejorar la competitividad frente a tus adversarios (abaratar el precio del billete), y a la vez reducir tus costes tanto fijos como variables mejorando el margen de beneficio, pero tambien es posible aplicarlo para mejorar otros aspectos tales como la seguridad en vuelo (safety), prediciendo tendencias negativas (excesos en tus estandares de operacion, SOP), y actuar para evitar daños mayores. El objetivo de este proyecto consiste en el estudio de la implementacion del big data en la aerolinea VOLOTEA en tres departamentos: Fuel efficiency (optimizacion en la operacion para reducir el consumo de combustible), Safety (estado actual de la seguridad en vuelo de la compañia) y Roster (programacion de tripulaciones). Para ello se utilizara la herramienta Skywise desarrollada por Navblue (filial de Airbus) que permite aunar todas las diferentes bases de datos (mantenimiento, programacion, training, datos de vuelo) en una misma plataforma y desarrollar tus propios algoritmos para obtener los resultados que se deseen. El proyecto consistirá, por lo tanto, en tres grandes bloques: 1. Estudio de que KPI's (Key Parameter Indicator). 2. Desarrollo de estos KPI's en la plataforma Skywise. 3. Propuesta de futuras mejoras. |

| During my 10 months of internship as Quality & Safety Support, at Volotea, my main task in that position was equivalent to the same as a Flight Data Monitoring Analyst.
In the FDM department, monthly data analysis and several studies have to be carried out with Excel, the process of which is long, costly and is subject to possible human factor errors since it has to constantly be working with large amounts of data. It can take two or three days to do that studies and sometimes have to redo them due to some human error. These FDM analyses must be presented at Safety Review Board meetings, within the Safety Monthly Presentation, and so be aware of how safe the company’s operation is being. Given the importance of a good management of these studies and the advent of the big data platform, Skywise, the purpose of this thesis is its implementation in Volotea’s FDM department. In order to be able to work with big amounts of data quickly, efficiently, easily and without the likelihood of human error. Once the studies are implemented on the platform, you will get the same charts obtained after the whole process with Excel but automatically, having to simply select the period of time during which we want to focus the study and for what type of fleet. In addition, improvements and further studies have been given with the intention of deepening in the data monitoring. |
