Overview (resum en anglès):
This final degree project deals with the implementation of the electronic flight bag (EFB) in the airplane cockpit. The electronic flight bag aims to reduce the workload of pilots by easing the access to all documents and letters on a device such as an iPad. Furthermore, it allows flight dispatchers and operations department to have more exhaustive and specific control over the updates of all the documentation inboard.
The project, because of its length, will be separated into two parts. The first one, will be covered in this document and will contain the regulations and steps followed by the company to finally reach the approval of the State Aviation Safety Agency (AESA) in order to use the EFB services.
Thus, these guidelines and their application in Flightline are found in this first part.
We also find a part dedicated to the budget where there is a comparison of price between some applications and devices, these costs will be taking into account in order to choose the best option for the company. Were obtained after several meetings with different corporations that offers the EFB services.
It also contains the first edition of the risk analysis, with the possible risks related to the use of the electronic device. These risks will be treated and analysed during the operational test.
On the other hand, the second part will contain the operational tests carried out by the company with the pilots, and the documents that prove compliance with the standard procedures.
Finally, the results obtained will be discussed once the EFB approval request has been submitted.
It is important to make this separation between topics, dealing in detail the regulations to follow, since all the implementations in the aeronautics field have strict guidelines and regulations that must be followed rigorously, in order to mitigate the risk or misuse, always regarding to the safety requirements at its best.
As part of the annex, the first revision of the MPPE (manual of procedures and EFB policy) will be available, which will be the one delivered to the authority.
