Descripció del contingut i pla d'activitats:
L'hort del Mercat de la Vall d'Hebron és un hort en coberta de
1.750 m 2 que està format per 38cm de substrat en base a terra
volcànica, sauló i matèria orgànica. Fa 4 anys que es va iniciar
l'activitat amb la integració del mercat i de Tarpuna.
L'objectiu del treball és fer un balanç d'aquests 4 anys per tal
d'analitzar el model de gestió i de fer les propostes de millora
per a la seva continuïtat.

Les activitats estan dirigides a l'avaluació d'aquests 4 anys:
- descripció de l'hort
- identificació, descripció i quantificació dels residus tractats
- descripció i quantificació de les activitats dutes a terme,
tant productives com socials
- realització del balança
- formulació de propostes

Overview (resum en anglès): Currently, about 56% of the world's population lives in the city (World Bank, 2023). Cities continue to grow and are increasingly remote from food production. The current agrifood model is based on mass production and requires large areas away from where these foods are consumed. In addition, this model is moving away from the food sovereignty of the population, which gives priority to local economies and distribution and trade under the foundations of environmental sustainability.
One of the policies implemented that aims to establish a change in the way we feed ourselves in cities is the urban garden, has an important role in the current context of our society and sustainable cities, since it is not only a source of food proximity, but also contributes to social cohesion, benefits the health and well-being of people Moreover, this practice contributes to achieving several of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 (UN, 2016). In Barcelona many policies are being promoted towards a fair, healthy, and sustainable food, so in 2021 it has been named the world capital of sustainable food (CMAS 2021).
The key to the proper functioning of urban gardens is the implementation of a management system that benefits the environment and helps social cohesion. To promote these values, in 2021 the Barcelona City Council promoted a project, which is managed by the Cooperation Tarpuna, which is the orchard of the Vall de Hebron Market, and is the first urban garden on roofs of these dimensions in Spain, managing the waste obtained at market stops in a decentralized manner and open to the participation of all citizens with a technical proposal of a natural substrate that will be the fertilizer for the different crops in the garden and giving most of the vegetables obtained from vulnerable families in the area.
This work will study the current model of the garden from its inception, June 2021 until December 2023; quantifying the treated organic waste, the destination of the products obtained and the awareness-raising activities carried out and the number and type of participants
