Descripció del contingut i pla d'activitats:
Simulation of the take-off and landing operations
The project aims at enable the simulation of the Take-off and Landing operations. It requires combining the airborne phase with the phase on the ground, plus the intermediate time while the wings already generated lift but not enough to get airborne. The aim of the software is to check the requirements of runway length under different runway and wind conditions.
Implementation in MATLAB/PYTHON/C++ (whatever preferred) of the dynamics of the take-off and landing. Identify and define the most suitable dynamic models for these two operations
DYNAMO is a trajectory modelling simulator, which enables trajectory prediction and trajectory optimization. DYNAMO is an in-house research software by UPC, ICARUS-ATM research group. From different types of inputs, including flight intents, weather conditions, air space structure, among others, the tool is able to get the flown or optimal trajectory of the plane. A module of this tool is PYBADA, which enables the access to the BADA database.
Assess the model, parameters required.
Aircraft performance models - BADA??

The working plan of the project includes:
- State-of-the-art analysis on aircraft dynamics, and landing and take-off dynamics particularly
- Analysis of DYNAMO simulations; as an example to understand how to work with dynamic models.
- Implementation of L and TO dynamic model
- Validation

Overview (resum en anglès):
The following project involves the design of a software capable of simulating take-off and landing operations to verify runway length requirements. To design the software, different mathematical models are studied and adapted according to the needs of the different phases into which both landing and take-off are divided. The simulations will be tested under different conditions of mass, weather, and wind.
