Descripció del contingut i pla d'activitats:
DYNAMO is a trajectory modelling simulator, which enables trajectory prediction and trajectory optimization. DYNAMO is an in-house research software by UPC, ICARUS-ATM research group. From different types of inputs, including flight intents, weather conditions, air space structure, among others, the tool is able to get the flown or optimal trajectory of the plane.

The tool is not comparing the interaction of several flight trajectories, so it is not able to account for conflicts and their resolution. The TFG proposal aims to take DYNAMO trajectories and implement conflict detection and resolution strategies. Incremental complexity level is foreseen the analysis of limited to large number of planes with a large number of potential conflicts

The working plan of the project includes:

State-of-the-art analysis on trajectory modelling, and conflict detection and resolution.
Analysis of DYNAMO simulations; how to deal with trajectories.
Implementation of the conflict detection and resolution system
Validation

Overview (resum en anglès):
The aviation sector is experiencing continuous growth driven by factors such as globalization and increasing demand for air travel. This increases the likelihood of in-flight conflict, and therefore affects safety. Being able to predict these scenarios is relevant for the safety and efficiency of air transport.
In this context, this project aims to understand all aspects of conflict generation in airspace along with the development of an algorithm for strategic detection and resolution of conflicts between aircraft trajectories generated by DYNAMO, which is a trajectory prediction and optimization engine developed by the ICARUS research group at Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), this program can compute trajectories using realistic and accurate weather aircraft performance data. A study has been carried out to better understand which algorithms are commonly employed to perform conflict detection and resolution operations and implement the best fitting model.
The first part of the project explains the regulatory aspect of aircraft conflict and the current methods to detect and avoid such conflict, along with a basic description of the types of algorithms used by researchers.
In the second part, an thorough step by step explanation of the algorithm and methodology developed in this project and its contributions to the research project it is aimed for, along with ideas for future lines of improvement.
Overall, the project is aimed to be an addition to DYNAMO to analyze the trajectory prediction and optimization performed by the program generate any conflict, and if so, solve it.
