Overview (resum en anglès): | |
The primary objective of this final project is to analyze and improve the check-in subsystem of Terminal T2 at Barcelona Airport, with a special focus on low-cost airlines. The research addresses the efficiency of the check-in process, the impact on waiting times, and the level of service, using a simulation model developed with AnyLogic software. This model allows the reproduction of different operational scenarios and the evaluation of potential strategies for optimizing service and resource allocation.
The methodology is based on the collection and analysis of real operational data from the terminal, as well as the construction of a simulation model that replicates the current check-in processes. Different configurations of the available resources were simulated, and key variables such as waiting times, queue lengths, and the efficient use of available check-in counters were analyzed. The results indicate that, under current conditions, the system presents a series of vulnerabilities that could lead to collapses during periods of high demand. The simulation suggests that the implementation of new technologies and the optimization of resource allocation could significantly improve the passenger experience, reduce waiting times, and enhance the operational efficiency of the terminal, directly impacting the level of service offered to passengers. This study demonstrates the usefulness of simulation tools for strategic decision-making in airport management and provides specific recommendations to enhance airport operations in the near future. |
