Multidisciplinary project where the student will be part of the work team, and will have the opportunity imrove the development of the eVtol in different areas: Lift Engineering, Electrical Motor Engineering (Ducted fan), flight mechanics and avionics.
The main objective is the study and develop a new electric retactable landing gear system for the eVtol in order to achiev higher speeds during cruise condition. Working together with different departments of the Project: Aerodynamics, Propulsion, Structure & Electronics. The work plan will be as follows: 1) Primary research of the eVtol industry and general aviation industry - analysis of how they work with different landing gears. 2) Study and development of a electrical retracable system. 3) Work in SolidWorks, Altair or Catia for design and engineering the landing gear system. 4) Study of the efficiency of different setups and configurations. 5) Study of manufacturing costs of the components. 6) Study and assembly different parts of the aircraft and their different systems. |

Nowadays, due to the huge overcrowding of vehicles that we find in big cities, urgent transport within them has become a big problem, leaving aside other serious problems that this congestion of vehicles entails.
One solution to the first problem mentioned would be the implementation of eVTOLs, a type of electric aircraft that allows faster movement from one point to another in the city than the land vehicles that we can find today, thus avoiding all kinds of traffic jams that we can find along these short journeys. On the other hand, it would be a much safer method of transport than those that we can find within the city, as air transport is much safer than any other type of transport, thus generating greater security in each of the journeys. In order to be able to make all these connections between the different points of the city, we will also need the creation of vertiports at different strategic points of the city, which will allow the take-off and landing of aircraft. Last but not least, for this whole project to go forward successfully, it is very important to carry out tests for each of the different parts of the aircraft, such as the landing gear, one of the most essential, which will allow us to take off and land the eVTOL comfortably and safely, absorb the weight of the aircraft and will be the main focus of this paper. The whole range of possible configurations that exist will be considered, as well as their possible designs and improvements to be made. Once this has been done, relevant simulations will be carried out in order to obtain the most similar results to those that we could expect when carrying out these studies in reality. Finally, as this aircraft's main use is in case of emergency, it would be very interesting to implement a retractable landing gear in order to obtain greater efficiency when flying at high speeds. |
