seleccionades i valorant l¿acceptació d¿aquestes varietats tant
The relationship between the importance of strawberries (Fragaria x ananassa) in the market and the increase in the value of local and seasonal products can motivate the farmer in an area with little relevance in strawberry production, such as the Baix Llobregat, to introduce this crop in your farm, offering a product that is highly valued by the consumer and putting value on agriculture and the local economy.
Therefore, the objective of this project is to find the variety or prototype variety that best suits the conditions of the area. In order to do this, an evaluation of the adaptation of thirteen strawberry varieties in organic farming was carried out. The experiment took place at the Cal Notari farm, located within the Parc Agrari del Baix Llobregat, in the municipality of Sant Boi de Llobregat, Barcelona, Spain.
To execute the test, the behaviour of each of the varieties was studied in relation to vegetative development, where, among other parameters, the survival of the variety, the productive capacity of vegetative organs and growth were assessed. The production and yield of the harvest were also studied and an analysis of the quality of the fruit was carried out in the laboratory. Finally, the tasting of some of the varieties was executed, with the aim of knowing the sensory and organoleptic parameters that the consumer prefers.
Having subjected the varieties to the same conditions and performing the same treatment on them throughout the crop, it is possible to observe the behaviour of the variety and thus determine which was the one that had the best adaptation and managed to achieve a higher production. In this case, the Donna variety was the most productive variety, both in accumulated harvest, and in the weight and size of the fruits. In addition, the data related to vegetative growth and resistance to external agents were higher than the rest of the varieties, which establishes a direct relationship between vegetative development and productivity.
