Els parcs urbans de les nostres ciutats ja no són espais d¿estada i contemplació sinó espais d¿oportunitat, on la vegetació pot desenvolupar-se amb la seva màxima plenitud dins de la trama urbana i la ciutadania troba espais de qualitat ambiental on proveir-se de salut i benestar.
L¿actual procés de creació d¿espais verds de caire públic és ple de reptes. El seu disseny i execució han d¿incorporar gran nombre d¿aspectes com l¿accessibilitat, la inclusivitat, la millora ambiental, la sostenibilitat, la biodiversitat, entre molts altres. i a l¿hora que preveure quina serà la gestió posterior i els recursos que s¿hi podran destinar.
L¿objectiu d¿aquest treball és recollir en format de guia l¿experiència assolida per part dels gestors d¿espais verds per tal d¿evitar errors en fase de projecte que dificultin el seu manteniment posterior i l¿assoliment d¿un correcte nivell de qualitat.

Overview (resum en anglès): The work aims to collect, define and justify criteria to be applied in the design of green spaces for public use, in particular those that condition the management and improve the quality and value of urban parks. These criteria are the result of monitoring and experiences generated from the management of the comprehensive maintenance of the network of metropolitan parks managed by the Barcelona Metropolitan Area.

The collection of criteria is presented as a practical guide for those responsible for the project and construction phases with a main objective, to create environmentally and economically sustainable green spaces with the greatest possible social acceptance. These recommendations must not only make it possible to achieve quality urban greenery of great social and environmental value, but also reduce the conflicts that may arise between the vegetation and other elements present in these green spaces, thus optimizing their subsequent management.

We must keep in mind that we are living in a time of exponential growth of green areas and public facilities, subject to high demand and high level of demand from the public, and that the resources allocated to the management of public space are limited, many sometimes insufficient. To this must be added that making modifications or corrective measures in a space in use and available to the public can be costly and complex to execute, in some cases it can even be rejected making it impossible to execute.

It is important that the projects incorporate criteria that allow to achieve the desired image of the future from a correct definition of its execution, that optimizes its later management, and of some environmental and social directives, that promote the acceptance and the 'use by the citizenry.

The collection of criteria is presented broken down according to the different areas present in a public park (vegetation, furniture, civil works, facilities, building), with a prior definition of the functions and objectives to be achieved in each area and its justification. based on deficiencies or needs detected in the management phase that are easy to amend in the project phase.
