Descripció del contingut i pla d'activitats:

Greece is a country with a great wine tradition, and with a great variety of wines, with unique and diverse characteristics due to the fact that the vineyards are located in areas with different topographic features. Among these wines is Vinsanto, which is made exclusively on the island of Santorini.

In order to assess the possible potential of this wine in the Spanish market, a bibliographic search was carried out, analyzing the sector at national and Catalan level, and more specifically those characteristics that are closely related to Vinsanto, such as bottles of less than 75 cl, PDO wines, foreign wines, and white wines, as well as the main associations of the sector. In addition, the number of varieties of sweet wines produced in Spain was analyzed, which can be grouped into 10 varieties, and in some cases have wines with a great international reputation. The wineries currently producing Vinsanto and some of their characteristics were also analyzed, given that the wines vary slightly between wineries (as demonstrated by the Parker scores) and the way in which their products can currently be acquired, as there is no single formula applied to all wineries.

In this context, several visits were carried out to different businesses in the city of Barcelona, where they were asked about the varieties of sweet wines and the countries of foreign wines. In the case of foreign wines, most came from Italy and France and some had sweet wines such as Tokay or Porto. As far as stores with Greek products are concerned we found only two businesses, but this may change in a few years with the appearance of a new distributor.

Taking into account the variety of wines, a survey was conducted to determine consumer preferences, but given the variety of wine characteristics it was only possible to identify overall consumer preferences without pointing out any attribute as a determinant for the choice of a wine in this case.

Finally, with regard to the exploratory sensory study comparing Vinsanto and Malvasia de Sitges, Vinsanto received the best ratings with an average of 6.06. In addition, the tasters in many cases rated the samples of the same wine differently, specifically in 70.37% of the cases.
