Descripció del contingut i pla d'activitats:
cost europeo. Incluso pudiendo llegar a obtenerse ventajas

This study aims to determine the feasibility of implementing wide-body aircraft
on short-haul routes in a low-cost airline. Over the last two decades, there has
been a steady increase in the average number of seats offered per flight in
Europe using narrow-body aircraft. For this reason, this project considers the
possibility of using wide-body aircraft, with a higher capacity, on these types of
routes. To verify this hypothesis, a model has been constructed that allows a
data analysis to be carried out, with the aim of demonstrating the feasibility of
using this type of aircraft in terms of costs, revenues and benefits.

To this end, an operational and cost model based on Ryanair's business model
has been developed to obtain the operational statistics and annual costs for a
low-cost airline. Based on these results, an analysis has been made of the seat
capacities that allow the cost per available seat per kilometre to be minimised
as much as possible. The influence of aircraft utilisation on the reduction of this
cost per seat is also demonstrated by means of a fixed cost dilution model and
a model of increased costs due to a decrease in utilisation.

Finally, based on a feasibility study, it is shown that the implementation of
aircraft with a capacity of between two hundred and fifty and three hundred
seats is feasible, while the use of aircraft with a capacity of more than two
hundred and fifty seats is ruled out. This is evidenced by obtaining the values
of elasticity, revenue per passenger, revenue per available seat per kilometre,
margin, as well as total annual revenue and profit for different aircraft
capacities. Thus, this finding allows us to enunciate some boundary conditions
for the development of these aircraft and raise questions for future studies on
their design in structural and sustainability terms.
