Overview (resum en anglès): | |
The metropolitan railway is one of the main elements within the transport system due to the number of passengers involved in this service. Continuing with the commitment established by cities regarding the reduction of emissions, public transport services are needed that are remarkably attractive and efficient.
In the evaluation of transport projects, the analysis of the capacity of the infrastructures is crucial, both of the existing ones and of the increases in capacity provided by new projects. In particular, the relationship between capacity and current demand must be measured, which makes it possible to identify congestion problems, and above all to analyze what this relationship will be in future scenarios in the medium term with/without investment actions or with different alternative projects. In this project, a review of theoretical models of airport infrastructure capacity is carried out with the aim of transferring it to the railway field. With the present study of a line of the metropolitan railway network, it is intended to detect bottlenecks, based on excellent data collection, seeking technical solutions to promote the demand for this transport and adding technical value with the improvement of this line. This study is carried out with data extracted from the operation of a metropolitan railway on a normal day, selecting a morning schedule that will include peak and off-peak hours. For the analysis, space-time diagrams have been elaborated using the Jupyter tool, programming in Python language. Horonjeff's mathematical methods of airport capacity have been applied insuch a way that indicators of critical points have been obtained that have subsequently been analyzed. Finally, proposals for improvement and a practical simulation of one of the proposals are made. |
