Dados los avances tecnológicos y el progreso medio ambiental y
demográfico de la población, se prevé que los aeropuertos
evolucionen operativamente para optimizar sus procesos en mayor
medida, de manera que a su vez deberán realizar ciertos cambios
estructurales para adaptarlo al nuevo modelo operacional. En este
trabajo se implementarán dichos cambios en el aeropuerto de Palma
de Mallorca, el cual se encuentra en la tercera posición de
aeropuertos con mayor afluencia de España.
 
Overview (resum en anglès):
The purpose of this work is the study and analysis of the evolution of airports of the future for its application at Palma de Mallorca airport. The aviation industry must continue to adapt to the challenges posed by the current global context in order to maintain or improve its level of service. In addition, it also seeks to make the experience of passengers at airports more satisfactory. It has been determined which factors will shape the evolution of passenger traffic, and how airports will change at an operational and structural level.
Firstly, the 3 factors influencing passenger traffic have been established: IATA passenger growth forecasts, demographic situation and environmental situation. There are other elements that contribute to air traffic, but it has been decided to focus on these 3 at a general level and that are valid for almost any airport in the world.
Based on the 3 factors of influence, changes have been proposed to improve and condition the operation of airports due to an increase in population in the coming years, an aging population and possible restrictions by climate change.
Finally, the impact of the factors on Palma de Mallorca airport has been studied and how it will evolve. The main conclusion drawn is the need to open up to new markets because of the demographic situation in Europe, especially the Asian market.
