| - A critical assessment of the BCN Airport expansion
The expansion of the Barcelona Airport has attracted a lot of attention, with a mian focus on the length of the runway and its extension. Less attention ahs been put on the new satellite building, and the configuration of the ground movements. The aim of the project is to assess the actual situation of the airport, its facilities and equipment, and the effects; benefits or drawbacks the expansion can get. The analysis must be multi- dimensional, considering purely aeronautical aspects, but also economic, social and environmental aspects which will provide a clear picture of the current and future situation. Work plane to follow is: - Background; - Demand and Capacity of BCN - DORA and Director Plan - Econometric aspects - Environmental aspects; - Similar airports around the world; configuration, operation, ' - Legislation; mainly from the point of view of environmental impact, but not only - Future forecast; potential scenarios to determine the demand. - Assessment of the possible terminal building design; mainly from the point of view of capacaity but not only - Assessment of the land side design; stands, apron, aircraft supplies (electrical, air conditioning, refuelling, '), - Design and assessment of the integration of the new airside, new taxiways, aprons, runway configuration, equipment, visual and radio aids, .. - Assessment of the impact of the new terminal bulding with the airport operation; either air and ground operations - Sustainability assessment |
