The primary objective of this thesis is to develop a comprehensive video camera system designed specifically for roller coasters. The system aims to provide an immersive experience by capturing high-quality video footage of the ride. Key objectives include designing a docking system to securely attach the camera to the roller coaster, ensuring the mechanical integrity of the docked camera through stress and vibration testing, validating the camera's internet connectivity to upload recorded videos before the roller coaster launches another group of riders, and ensuring the system's power autonomy lasts for an entire working day.
The activities involved in this project encompass several critical design and validation processes. Initially, the design process for the electronics block will be undertaken, followed by the development of the camera's mechanical structure and the docking system to attach the camera to the roller coaster. Additionally, the design of a charging station for the camera will be developed. Validation processes will include ensuring the power autonomy of the system and verifying the mechanical integrity of the docked camera under stress and vibration conditions. These tests will be conducted both in simulations and in a testing laboratory. Connectivity validation will involve estimating the upload time for a block of videos, based on the average internet speed in the actual roller coaster, and the average size of each video file. These comprehensive design and validation steps will ensure the successful integration and operation of the Rover Lander system on roller coasters.
