| This project aims to improve the efficiency of administrative processes related to the management of the so-called "Deltas" in Airlines Heavy Maintenance Department. A "Delta" is a document or invoice issued by an external maintenance company MRO, (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) after a scheduled check of an aircraft. These documents reflect the final cost of the work performed and often need to be compared to previous estimates in contracts or tenders, as well as the originally planned sequence of work.
Currently, this process is manual and involves processing large amounts of data, which can lead to inefficiencies and delays in verifying information and approving invoices. This project proposes the development of a software tool based on programming languages ''such as Python to centralize and automate the comparison and validation process. The work plan is as follows: 1. Analyze the current process and gather functional requirements. 2. Define the system infrastructure and modules required for managing and comparing data. 3. Develop a working prototype capable of importing information from Deltas contracts and past contracts and generating discrepancy reports. 4. Validate the prototype through practical cases from real-life situations in a heavy maintenance department. 5. Finalize conclusions and improvement recommendations for future full implementation in a professional environment. The main goal is to provide a solution that will contribute to standardizing internal procedures and reducing the burden of manual work, improving reliability and speed in managing aircraft maintenance. |

| Overview (resum en anglès): | |
| This project explains how an administrative task that is often overlooked but crucial to aircraft maintenance can be significantly improved through automation. At Vueling, the management of DELTAS, the discrepancies between what was contracted with the maintenance shop and what is ultimately carried out or detected during the aircraft inspection, was previously carried out manually using spreadsheets and documents containing hundreds of lines, a process that took many hours and left room for error. To resolve this, a tool was designed that organises information from different suppliers, compares contracts with task packages, and automatically flags which jobs have been added, which have been cancelled, and what financial impact each change may have. The solution combines a Python script to consolidate data and an Excel/VBA macro designed so that staff can use it without changing their working environment. When tested with anonymised real data, the review time was reduced from several hours to a few minutes, and discrepancies with clear financial implications were detected. Overall, the work demonstrates that digitising administrative processes also improves transparency, efficiency and decision-making capacity in a sector as demanding as the aeronautical industry. | |
