Multiparametric IoT plant sensing platform
The plant physiology responds to various environmental changes or biotic stresses. In particular, the plant electrical properties as well as the electrical signals (biopotentials, like the ECG) that they produce shows changes that seem to correlate with their environment, but more studies are needed. The aim of this work is to develop an IoT sensing platform, controlled by an ESP32 microcontroller, able to measure a set of magnitudes external to the plant (temperature, relative humidity, CO2), but also internal to the plant (biopotentials, electrical impedance). This platform will serve as a tool to investigate the electrophysiological changes of the plant in response to a variety of environmental changes.
Preferably, the candidates must be willing to finish this project by July-September 2024.
-Selection, testing, and coding of digital-output environmental sensors
-Development of a platform-specific code for an AD5940 impedance analyzer
-Development of a biopotential amplifier (similar to that necessary for ECG applications)
-Microcontroller and sensor integration in a single board
-Intensive testing of the implemented sensing board for data transmission in the lab and in a green house
-Data transmission to a cloud service, and implementation of a visualization dashboard.
