Descripció del contingut i pla d'activitats:
Design, development and validation of beyond state-of-the-art video streaming technologies and services, including: i) immersive media formats (e.g., 360º video, volumetric video like RGB+Depth and Point Clouds); ii) communication and distribution architectures to maximize scalability and interoperability (e.g., including cloud processing functions); and iii) advanced adaptive and low-latency streaming methods. These research outcomes will be centered on enabling next-generation interactive services, like multi-user holographic communications and videoconferencing

The results from the planned research and development activities are expected to lead to high-impact scientific publications, technology/knowledge transfer (e.g., open-source software, patents), and career development opportunities.

Streaming Protocols (HTTP adaptive streaming, like DASH and HLS, WebRTC')
Video Formats and Encoding
Quality of Service

Skills:

Programming (C/C++ and Javascript) and software design skills. Python is a plus.
English professional proficiency.

Desired requirements:

Skills:

Communication skills (writing and presenting).
Ideally, some experience with media frameworks (e.g., ffmpeg, GStreamer) and media playback software (e.g., dash.js, Unity).
Highly committed, excellent team-worker, and strong critical thinking.
