The aim of the proposal is to implement the resolution of the boarding gate (or parking stand) assignment problem through the use of a linear programming, a genetic algorithm and particle swarm optimization methods (other methods to be add or to replace the mentioned ones are possible). It will require the implementation of the assignment problem, while considering the particularities of the selected optimization methods.
Optimization methods could be taken either from existing python libraries, or from the in-house CIMNE software RMOP. RMOP is an optimization platform implementing genetic algorithms (GA), hybrid GA, Nash GA, particle swarm (PSO), and other deterministic methods. To validate, demonstrate and compare the performance of the selected methods, a cross-comparison among the methods and their performances will be stablished; comparison according accuracy, computing time, capability of dealing with restrictions and constraints, etc' The test cases will define a simple test case to validate, and a second test case for demonstration, at least. The simple test could be based on a low-demand airport like Girona or Reus, while the complex case could be based on Barcelona airport or similar one.
