Descripció del contingut i pla d'activitats:
The Fine Timing Measurement (FTM) procedure, defined in the IEEE 802.11-2016 standard and later extended by the IEEE 802.11az amendment, specifies an indoor positioning mechanism based on Time of Flight (ToF) measurements. FTM enables an initiating station to perform ranging exchanges with a responding station-typically an Access Point (AP)-in order to estimate its position.

However, the standard does not incorporate security mechanisms to ensure essential services such as confidentiality, integrity, and authentication. Since FTM frames are transmitted without encryption, a passive observer can intercept the exchanges between the initiating station and the access points and use this information to estimate the station's location, thereby compromising user privacy.

Building upon prior work that evaluated, through simulation, the accuracy of location estimation under the assumption that the attacker knows its own position, the objective of this Master's Thesis is to analyze a more realistic scenario in which the attacker lacks this information, and to compare the resulting localization accuracy with that reported in the earlier study.
