| High Throughput Satellite (HTS) systems rely on multi-beam architectures and gateway stations to deliver high-capacity broadband services. However, centralized gateway configurations introduce limitations in terms of latency, resilience, and scalability, especially in regions with constrained terrestrial infrastructure.
This thesis aims to analyse multi-gateway architectures from a system-level perspective, considering traffic models, propagation effects, and quality of service requirements. The work will investigate performance bottlenecks and evaluate optimization techniques such as dynamic resource allocation, beam-hopping, inter-gateway routing, and gateway diversity schemes. The study will combine analytical modelling and simulation-based evaluation to assess system performance under realistic operational scenarios. The expected outcome is to provide design recommendations for improving efficiency, robustness, and resource utilization in HTS systems. |
